Clarity Challenge
September 2017
This is my interpretation for the September challenge, using Jayne's plates. I made this back in June and it has been waiting patiently to be given to my mother-in-law for her birthday at the beginning of this month. I deliberately chose this colour scheme as it is not one I would usually choose and I did want to present myself with a challenge as this was my little bit of therapy and my first major project since our beloved mum, granny, great-granny died in May.
Materials:-
- Groovi :- Jayne's Roses Plates, Dahlias - Butterfly, Agapanthus - Butterfly; Nested Hearts; A5 Diagonal Piercing Grid
- Parchment:- white
- Polychromos
Instructions:-
- Trace chosen size of heart on white parchment with a white pencil.
- Turn to wrong side and emboss a frame of roses using Jayne's plates.
- Pierce and picot cut.
- Pierce a pattern in the centre of heart using diagonal grid.
- Colour outside roses with Polychromos.
- Emboss, colour, pierce and picot cut a number of roses to add to frame as per decoupage.
- Emboss, colour, pierce and picot cut butterflies from a variety of Jayne's plates. Add to frame.
- Mount onto mirri card then onto a card blank.
As someone who began teaching as school budgets were shrunk considerably and used to finding alternatives (all my initial work cards were made on card retained by Mum, Gran, aunties et al from their Kit Kat etc packs) I cannot bear to throw much away and knew I'd find a use for the inner rings left over from empty red-liner reels. (These are the larger rings, roughly the same size as Sellotape in diameter.) Jayne's flowers are so beautiful to work with, I felt they required a simple elegance to showcase their beauty.
Materials:-
- Stamps:- Jayne's Fuchsias
- Card:- Theva
- Ink Pads:- Archival Black
- Misc:- Polychromos, red glass seed beads, empty inner reel from red liner tape, paper string
Instructions:-
- When the tape is down to the last layer, remove red covering to expose a sticky circle. Wrap paper string around tightly, finishing off at the top with a loop to suspend the ring from.
- Stamp fifteen large fuchsias and and eight small onto Theuva with Black Archival. Colour with Polychromos and fussy cut enough to decoupage all.
- Arrange around covered ring and glue - I used Glossy Accents.
- Once in place, add a tiny dot of Glossy Accents to each stamen followed by a seed bead.
- Stamp butterfly twice onto parchment scrap, colour and cut out and attach to ring.
Have fun with Jayne's stamps and Groovi plates in your collection.
Will be back son.
Best wishes,
