Example 1

An Oriental Touch

Materials:-

Dies:-

·         ‘Tree Time’

·         Nested Circles

·         Nested Squares

Stencils:-

·         Foliage

Card/Paper:-

·         Stencil

·         Theuva

·         Card Blank

Ink Pads:-

·         Old Paper

·         Camel Safari

·         Amazon Green

Miscellany:-

·         Micron Pen

·         Flowers – Sage Green

Instructions:-

1.       Having taped stencil onto Stencil card, blend over Amazon Green and Camel Safari. Remove stencil; edge with gold Sharpie. Trim edges slightly. Set aside.

2.       Frame 1 – cut Stencil card using largest and 2^nd largest dies; Frame 2 – cut Stencil card using largest and 4^th largest dies. Dot inner and outer circumference of narrow frame with Micron pen. Stamp Bamboo Leaves around wider frame with Versamark and heat emboss with chosen embossing powder. Set aside.

3.       Cut ‘Tree’ die from Theuva card and trim using largest Nested Square. Dot around outline with Micron pen.

4.       To layer:- a) Attach stencilled image onto 7ins x 7ins card blank. Glue tree image centrally using dots of Perga glue. Attach frames over. Add flowers and thread.

 Example 2

Brown Sugar!

Materials:-

Dies:-

·         Tree Time

·         Nested Squares -

Card/Paper:-

·         Dark Brown textured

·         Designer Paper – New England Fall

·         Theuva

·         Rose Gold Pearlescent

·         Card Blank – 6ins x 6ins

Instructions:-

1.       Cut ‘Tree’ image from brown textured card. Cut around outline with 3rd largest Nested Square.

2.       Attach image onto New England Fall paper and trim each edge.

3.       Repeat with Theuva card.

4.       Cut pearlescent card using 2^nd largest Nested Square and attach layered image onto this.

5.       Add to card blank.

Example 3

Framed in Gold!

Materials:-

Dies:-

·         Tree Time

·         Nested Squares

Card/Paper:-

·         Theuva

·         Cream

·         Gold Mirror

Miscellany:-

·         Silver spider web material

Instructions:-

1.       Fold cream A4 card in half and cut card blank using largest Nested Square.

2.       Cut centre out from front of card blank using 4^th largest Nested Square.

3.       Cut frames from gold mirror card using 2^nd and 3^rd largest and 4^th and 5^th Nested Squares.

4.       Cut Tree image from Theuva card and trim using 4^th largest Nested Square.

5.       Attach web material behind image and smaller gold frame over. Attach centrally to inside of card blank.

6.       Adhere remaining gold frame over card front aperture.

Example 4

White on White!

Materials:-

Dies:-

·         Tree

·         Nested Squares

Card/Paper:-

·         Theuva

·         Card Blank –

Instructions:-

1.       Cut ‘Tree’ from Theuva card. Trim card leaving a broad border. Cut narrow frame from second sheet of Theuva using 3^rd and 4^th largest Nested Squares. Attach frame centrally over die-cut tree.

2.       Cut aperture from front of 7ins x 7ins card blank.

3.       Attach die cut tree image over aperture.

Example 5

‘In the Frame’

(I used Clarity colours in homage to Barbara and David’s wedding invitation.)

Materials:-

Dies:-

·         Tree Time

·         Nested Rectangles

Card/Paper:-

·         Pearlescent Navy Blue

·         Ice Blue, Turquoise, Silver Matte Mirror

Miscellany:-

·         Double Mount

·         Frame

Instructions:-

1.       Cut tree from Clarity Blue Pearlescent paper. Trim using largest Nested Rectangle.

2.       Layer onto two shades of blue followed by silver matte mirror card.

3.       Cut four more hearts from blue pearlescent scraps using Tree die. Glue to foot of silver mount.

4.       Add behind mounts and place in frame.

Example 6

Black, White and Grey!

Materials:-

Dies:-

·         Birds on the Branch

·         Nested Squares

Card/Paper

·         Theuva

·         Matte Black

·         Silver Pearlescent

Instructions:-

1.       Cut ‘Birds on Branch’ once each from Theuva and Matte Black card.

2.       Trim each using 5^th largest Nested Square.

3.       Cut one square each from Theuva and matte black using 5^th largest Nested Square. Attach die cut OPPOSITE images onto these.

4.       Layer onto silver, black and silver.

Girl Talk!

Materials:-

Dies:-

·         Birds on a Branch

·         A Little Bird Told Me

·         Mini Word Chains 17, 18

Ink Pads:-

Embossing Powder:-

·         Clear Detail

Card/Paper:-

·         Card Blank

·         Pink Pearlescent

·         Pink Matte

·         Gingham – pink/white

Miscellany:-

·         Flowers – Pink

·         Gingham Ribbon

·         Small Pink Safety Pin

Instructions:-

1.       Cut ‘Birds on a Branch’ from pink pearlescent card. Trim.

2.       Mount onto pink matte card. Trim to leave narrow border.

3.       Mat onto gingham paper and trim to leave border.

4.       Cut ‘A Little Bird Told Me’ – words only from scrap white and pearlescent pink, trim and add to top of image, off-setting both colours.

5.       Attach to card blank.

6.       Stamp sentiment with Rosy Cheeks ink pad plus addition of Clear Detail embossing powder (heat set) down remaining white area.

7.       Add flowers, bow and pin. 

Example 8

Birds on a Wire!

Materials:-

Dies:-

·         Birds on a Branch

·         Nested Squares

·         Nested Circles

Card/Paper:-

·         Designer Parchment – Barb’s Favourite

·         Stencil

·         Green, Blue Mirror

·         Card Blank

Instructions:-

1.       Cut largest Nested Circle from stencil card to form aperture. Trim using 2^nd largest Nested Square.

2.       Cut ‘Birds’ from blue and green mirror card. Attach one over the other, creating a drop shadow.

3.       Attach white aperture over. Trim to leave a narrow border.

4.       Attach over Designer Parchment of choice. Trim to leave a narrow border. 

5.       Attach to card blank.

Example 9

Simple Easel

Materials:-

Dies:-

·         Floral Tree

·         Birds on a Branch

·         Nested Squares

Card/Paper:-

·         Card Blank

·         Red, Green Mirror

Miscellany:-

·         Green, Red pearls

Instructions:-

1.       Using 5^th largest Nested Square, cut aperture from card blank. Score at mid-point horizontally and fold over to create easel.

2.       Cut ‘Floral Tree’ once each from green and red mirror card. Trim using 4^th largest Nested Square. Attach to front of easel aperture.

3.       Cut ‘Birds on a Branch’ from remaining green mirror card. Attach to base of easel card.

4.       Decorate with pearls.

Example 10

Tree Blossom

Materials:-

Dies:-

·         Floral Tree

·         Nested Squares

Card/Paper:-

·         Card Blank – white x 1

·         Card Blank – black x 2

·         Parchment – A5 – Lime, Blue

Flowers:-

·         Blue

Miscellany:-

·         Cord

Instructions:-

1.       Cut Floral Tree from white card blank half.

2.       Cut black frame from card blank half, using 4^th and 5^th largest Nested Squares. Glue centrally over tree image.

3.       Trim outside white border equally. Reserve.

4.       Tear A5 lime parchment to form two landscapes – one deeper than the other. Place one behind other (thus intensifying lower landscape) and glue at edges on reverse of frame (at 3). Place blue parchment into gap and similarly, glue at edges.

5.       Attach to black card blank.

6.       Add flowers and cord.

Example 11

Red and Green

Materials:-

Dies:-

·         Floral Tree

·         Nested Squares

Card/Paper:-

·         Designer Paper

·         Red, Green, Patterned Mirror

·         Card Blank 8ins x 8ins

Instructions:-

1.       Cut Floral Tree once each from red and green mirror card. Trim red image leaving a border and attach over green, off-setting image. Trim green to leave a narrow border.

2.       Attach over patterned green mirror card. Trim to leave border as before.

3.       Attach to left side of card blank.

4.       Trim 4 equal strips from Designer Paper and attach to right hand side of card blank, inter-weaving at bottom right-hand corner.

5.       Tear circles and leaves from remaining paper, form into flowers and attach to suit.

Example 12

‘A Little Bird’

Materials:-

Dies:-

·         ‘A Little Bird’

·         ‘Tree Time’

·         Nested Circles

Card/Paper:-

·         Designer Card

·         Theuva

·         Mate Black

·         Card Blank

Instructions:-

1.       Cut circle using 6^th largest Nested Circle die from centre of chosen Designer Card.

2.       Cut Tree from Theuva, trim and glue behind circle aperture.

3.       Attach to selected Designer Card. Trim and mat onto black card, leaving a narrow black margin on each side.

4.       Attach to card blank and trim.

5.       Cut ‘A Little Bird Told Me’ from remaining Theuva, trim to fit and adhere to foot of image.

6.       Cut another image from Theuva, select areas, cut and add below words.

Example 13

Hey Ho Silver!

Materials:-

Dies:-

·         A Little Bird Told Me

·         Nested Rectangles

Card/Paper:-

·         Card Blank 6ins x 6ins

·         Designer Card

·         Silver, Blue matte mirror

Miscellany:-

·         Double-sided sticky sheet

·         Perga Glitter

Instructions:-

1.       Cut ‘A Little Bird Told Me’ from matte silver mirror card.

2.       Cut rectangle using 2^ndlargest Nested Rectangle from matte blue mirror card. Cut square aperture from this using 5^th largest Nested Square. 

3.       Attach double sided sticky sheet behind aperture. Cut tree from silver image at 1) and apply onto sticky sheet. Dust over Perga glitter and gently rub in.

4.       Remove backing sheet and layer onto Designer Card.

5.       Attach to card blank. Cut variety of leaves from remnants of matte blue mirror card and attach to suit.

6.       Trim ‘A Little Bird Told Me’ words from residual of 1) and attach to card.

Example 14

‘Black and Blue’

Materials:-

Dies:-

·         A Little Bird Told Me

·         Nested Squares

Card/Paper:-

·         Card Blank – Black – 7ins x 7ins

·         Designer Paper

·         Matte Black

·         Matte Blue Mirror

·         Stencil

Instructions:-

1.       Cut square using 2^nd largest Nested Squares from matte blue mirror card. Mat onto stencil card and trim to leave a narrow white border.

2.       Cut ‘A Little Bird Told Me’ once from Designer Paper. Trim image using 3^rd largest Nested Square. Attach to blue square from 1).

3.       Cut square from matching Designer Paper. Layer main image over.

4.       Cut same image as in 1) from black paper. Carefully remove die. Glue chosen black areas into image at 1)

5.       Attach to card blank.

7.       To decorate, cut a frame using 4^th and 5^th largest Nesting Squares and attach over image.

NB

To achieve textured card, run mirror or matte mirror though die-cutting machine using old plates. The cut marks will transfer onto card to create texture.

Example 15

Texas Tea!

My chosen name for this card – a play on words and one of my favourite ways when teaching to keep my listeners tuned in! Texas Tea=Oil=Black Gold!

Materials:-

Dies:-

·         A Little Bird Told Me

·         Birds on a Branch

·         Nested Rectangles

Stamps:-

·         Mini Word Chains

Ink Pads:-

·         Versamark

Embossing Powder

·         Fine Detail Gold

Card/Paper:-

·         Black Card Blank – 8ins x 8ins

·         Gold Mirror

·         Gold Patterned Black

Instructions:-

1.       Cut ‘A Little Bird Told Me’ from black card.

2.       Cut frame from black/gold patterned card using 2^nd and 3^rd largest rectangles and attach over black image. Trim.

3.       Layer onto gold, black and gold card.

4.       Attach to card blank.

5.       Cut variety of leaves etc from dies, separate and attach around perimeter of card.

6.       Stamp sentiment on scrap black card and attach.

7.       Add bird images.
